Hello again,
So you've heard about our first day from both groups at this stage. Now it's time for a little bit things to see in Tenerife. Saturday morning was our first day off, and although it was a little tempting to stay in bed and rest, myself and Mary B decided to take a walk. Normally we take the tram to Intercambiador to get to work but Mary and I walked there instead. The day was absolutely gorgeous. The sun was shining and it was really warm. We had to take our first chance to enjoy the sun. On our way we popped into various shops especially costume shops. They have lots of different bits and bobs for upcycling pieces. We got a lot of inspiration for our recycled garment projects which are being shown in the Fashion Fiesta later in the year.
We went to the Auditorio de Tenerife. This building is an architectural symbol of Santa Cruz. The auditorium hosts various musical performances and is home to the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.

Beside the auditorium is another 'unofficial' tourist spot. Along the ocean are some very interesting 'celebrity' rocks. We'd heard from Marivi about these rocks and were really looking forward to seeing them. From what Marivi told us about them we thought they were carved statues of different celebrities but instead there are lots of paintings of famous musicians and actresses. Although it wasn't what we expected it was still cool to see who had been painted. There was everyone from Roy Orbinson and Johnny Cash to Bono and the Bee Gees.
We spent ages looking around trying to spot as many celebrities as we possibly could. We found a way to get down to the rocks to walk among them, unfortunately we didn't have enough time that day to get a closer look. We're definitely going to go back another day and maybe bring a picnic with us as it's such a beautiful spot to sit and relax.
There'll be more posts coming soon.
Adios for now,
Helen :)
